RULES AND ENTRY PROCEDURE FOR ALL BORDER GALAS
OFFICIALS

Each Club is to provide Senior Officials for every gala.eg Stroke / Turn Judge / Starter / Ref failure to provide the required amount for ANY gala will result in a R500.00 fine for the club.

The Border Aquatics Official Rep is to be notified within 24hours prior to the gala if the club has any changes in their officials. If an official is down to do a duty and is unable to attend they must find a replacement in their club and notify their club rep so that it can be noted by the club with the XBA Officials Rep.

All Officials doing a duty on the pool deck must be attired properly – White Shirt, Blue longs – no denims and no slops.

Each club must put forward at least one parent per family to do the officials courses during the season.

All Clubs to provide Officials even if they have no swimmers swimming in the gala.

Clubs should have reserve officials in place to be used if need be.

No Parent is allowed to approach any official on the deck. Protests are to be done in writing via their club manager with a R100 deposit and given to the referee within 30 mins of the incident in question. The meet referees decision will be final.
SWIMMING RULES

Swimming South Africa rules apply. One start gala rule will apply.

Swimmers to be registered with SSA and Border Aquatics 14 day prior to the closing date of the gala entries.

All events will be swum as timed finals. They will be seeded according to their times.

Entries to be done on Team Manager by the Records Officer. Entries must be in by 12pm on the Friday prior to the gala date. Entries to be checked by clubs and any corrections sent back to the Records Officer by Wednesday prior to the gala. If no notification is received, they will be deemed correct. No changes will be done on the pool deck on the day of the gala.

Entry Fees to be paid into the Border Aquatics Account and proof sent to the President – No Proof – No Swim

No Late Entries will be accepted.

Only designated Team managers are allowed to do scratchings, enquiries etc. the team managers name is to be submitted with the clubs officials list.

In galas with relays, only swimmers that have entered the gala and have swum are eligible to take part in the relays. Names must be submitted with entries. Failure to swim in the order listed may result in disqualification of the team.

Protests are to be done in writing via their club manager with a R100 deposit and given to the referee within 30 mins of the incident in question. The meet referees decision will be final. Protests to be done in writing.

Races will be announced, but no swimmer will be called individually. All competitors will report to the Competitors Steward. Failure to do this will result in the swimmer being disqualified and listed as a “No Show” and will pay a penalty.

Scratchings / No Shows:
a) Swimmers wishing to scratch from an event may do so up to one hour (1 hour) before the start of the relevant session.
b) Only Team Managers may do scratchings
c) Swimmers who do not scratch and fail to swim an event will be disqualified from their next event and fined R100. If the fine has been paid, the swimmer will be permitted to swim the next event. If it is the swimmers last event of the session, a R100 fine will be imposed or the swimmer may not swim the next session of a gala.
d) Presentation of a medical certificate will over rule the above. However, this is at the discretion of the Gala Convenor and the child will not be able to swim any of the sessions of the gala.
